Protection of private property Mer

The Swedish Constitution says that private property can only be taken by force for the sake of “pressing public interests” – but too often the aim is the construction of golf courses, truck terminals, industrial areas or other commercial purposes. Moreover, taking private property by force should always be “a last resort” – alternatives that are less intrusive for the individual should be used in first place. Furthermore, according to the European Convention on Human Rights, people’s homes enjoy a particularly strong protection.

Centrum för rättvisa acts in various cases concerning the protection of private property. The focus is on individuals whose rights are not respected by municipalities, authorities or commercial actors.
